Transtastic You Doll ... and other tidbits

Seems like the month of February has just flown by!

There's been a lot going on in my life, but I want to take a moment to share something that's exciting to me - a Transtastic You Doll.

I've been chatting with people in the Parents of Transgender Children forum on Facebook for while. It's amazing how many young children are coming out as gender-fluid. This certainly places the parents in challenging situations. I wanted to create something that a parent could give to their child as a comforting gift while they worked out bigger issues. I felt a cloth doll was something that would fit the ticket - but what should it look like?  Trying to figure out how to create a doll that is two-genders but not creepy took some thinking.

I found a doll artist on Esty who does wonderful work with small cloth dolls. She agreed to have a go at making a doll with a boy on one side and a girl on the other. It came out FANTASTIC ... or should I say TRANSTASTIC!  :-D

I showed it off in the parents forum and to some "real-life" friends. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. I've gone back to the artist and commissioned three more to see if people will pay for what they say is very exciting. I'll most likely take a loss on these dolls, but money isn't my real goal. If they sell well, and then we can begin to make them at a small profit or "non loss" I'll be happy. It's the positivity aspect that I want to promote.

And on that note - I've been in contact with Equality Alliance of West Chester County PA. We seem to have a mutual interest in each other's work and gifts. I'm hoping to become more involved with that organization and am very excited to have a potential Key Note speaking role on Gay Pride Weekend  June 2 -3.

The Presbyterian USA denomination is also working on drafting a new stance on transgender people. I saw a draft - and WOW!!  I can't share it here, but if it goes through ANYwhere near the draft form, it's an amazing testimony to not only transgender people, but the whole LGBTQ community in terms of apology and recognition of humanity.

I'll be attending the Keystone Conference in Harrisburg, PA on March 9 - 11.  Maybe I'll see you there!

I think those are the highlights.

Stay safe out there and remember - you're not just transgender - you are TRANSTASTIC!
